The Boya Oval Redevelopment consists of a combined sporting pavilion, community centre and library, as well as a transformer compound built partially below the carpark.

The library was designed as a large open space, without internal columns, providing maximum flexibility for the use of the space. This required large span deep beams that were too long for transport, necessitating site butt welding of the beams prior to lifting them into position.

The Boya region is underlain by clayey soils. The works required tying in and directing subsoil drainage and water flow paths. Stormwater and subsoil drainage water was captured and stored on site, below the carpark, with a choked outflow into the council system.

The project required responsive trouble shooting and design when issues arose during construction; such as the removal of the existing Western Power transformer being delayed resulting in retaining walls being unable to be constructed until later in the project.,
