This project consisted of a two storey building contacting a museum and a theatrette on the ground floor and library and gallery on the first floor.

The site is in a prominent location providing the opportunity to build on architecturally significant structure.

BPA Engineering provided structural design services for the building as well as civil design for the adjacent right of way and carpark.

The majority of the suspended slab for the library was designed using precast beams and hollowcore planks. This allowed for large spans and greatly reduced the requirement for formwork.

Other parts of the structure utilised varying design methods. The gallery over the theatrette was an insitu slab supported on steel columns and braced through two concrete bridges back into the main cores.

The steel structure was very complex with many different roof shapes and levels. The feature alpolic clad wall to the North West gallery was an outward sloping curved wall that required extensive coordination between BPA, the Architects and the shop detailer.
