Located at Murdoch University, Murdoch Campus, west of the Veterinary Biology building, it was designed as a signature building to form part of the northern edge of Southern Gateway Plaza and Banksia Court situated to the north. It contains primarily PC2 laboratories and one PC3.
The Building has large glass Facades and a cantilevered roof to enhance its appearance. Gas and water services are articulated around the building perimeter integrated into the structure so they can be tapped into from almost any point in the building.
A flat plate floor slab with large spans between columns was employed for the first floor to enhance flexibility and provide minimal obstruction to services.
The documentation included extra reinforcement in the area of the PC3 lab to minimize the risk of cracking. It also called for pressure testing and sealing of any potential cracks prior to fitting out the laboratory.
The project construction was completed without any major issues, on time and on budget.
