Civic & Administration Centre, Margaret River
Margaret River

With the shire offices dispersed over several buildings in the region, a new centralised facility was required due to the growth of the area. The Margaret River Civic and Administration Centre consisting of their new shire office and council chamber were designed on the focus of environmentally sustainable design. External claddings using locally sourced recycled timber and local stone were utilsied to boast the strengths and confidence of the Augusta Margaret River Region.

The iconic structure provides large span entry canopy with a multi-use council chamber. The council chamber skewed roof structure was carefully assembled and designed to ensure it still achieved the architectural design requirements. The two offices behind the main entry had no ceiling which utilsied insulated roof panels to meet the environmentally sustainable design principles for the project. The exposed large span roof structure system was designed to complement the building’s design principles. The use of polished concrete floor and exposed aggregate concrete retaining walls were used to accompany the natural stone walls.
